Song Arrangement

Postby MURBZ » Sat Jun 02, 2012 6:33 pm

Can anyone help me out on the typical arrangment of a progressive house song?

And when the chords, melody, chorus, vocals, harmonic come in.....

I understand that it may vary depending on the song and artist, however it would be great to have a general idea as a benchmark.....

Thanks.

I got this from luke and he said that its your beats intro first, this is normally a minute or something like that. Then its your first break then you start big climax and drop which then goes into a 32 main bar loop, then your 2nd breakn big climax, 32 main bar loop and finally your outro

I would say listen to tracks which you like and analyze the arrangement and use that as reference.

Also, while it is a good idea to know a general arrangement, try not to follow that guideline too strictly. Arrangement should differ based on the feel of the track and how it should move. Experiment, experiment, experiment.

Bleak arrangement can take a potentially great track and make it boring; the inverse is also possible.

At begining try to copy your fav artists arrangaments. And it pretty much always will become into different track so dont worry. Its all about practise you know?
As Mick said - Just start with drum intro, break, drop, break, drop, outro
Try to bring things gradually so it isnt too repetitive. Word progress explain things by it self :).
There is no "there we strictly need to put vocals and there melody" its about how they best fit together in your mix :).

How about the vocals, do they always have to be in the same scale as the melody?

As for harmonic vocals, do i raise the vocals to a specific pitch? if so is there a specific rule of thumb?
