Hey all, I'm trying to figure out how to record a set straight to my laptop.
What gear/connections do I to record my live sets?

My gear:
2 cdj 400's and 1 djm 400

Thanks !

if i was u i would invest in a gemini ikey.....it simply plugs into your mixer u stick a usb into it and magic...it records your set srtaight to a memory stick......put this in your computer and boom your set is there in good quality format. hope this helps.

yes this would be the best or if you really want to you could just by a cd recorder and record directly into it(oldschool)but the ikey is the best option

So i just buy the ikey, connect rca's from my mixer to the ikey and plug an external hard drive to the other side of the ikey and press record?

way i do it is simple.....phono leads from mixer (REC or BOOTH) straight into the input of the ikey....then all u do is follow the instructions from the ikey.... off the top of my head u turn it on....plug in usb stick.. select quality eg..192kbps.. press record..... mix your tunes.... hold record in for few seconds....remove usb stick and wallah your set is now recorded onto your memory stick. the ikey seems like alot of money but get one ff ebay or something but your set is recorded perfectly and saves messing on with line in , soundcards etc. :D

So I'm planning on buying the ikey. A question i have is how high can i have the volume while I'm recording? Right now, I have a pair of M-Audio studio monitors connected to my mixer. On the back of the speakers i have the volume dial at about 12 o'clock. On my mixer I have the master volume at 12 o'clock as well. Will I still be able to have it at this level while recording on the ikey?

the ikey has its own volume recording level......if your level is too high going into the ikey then the 'level clip' or something like that light will flash....u simply set the level on the ikey down to a point where this light flashes only now and then or not at all...... this is good because u can crank your speakers up so you can clearly hear your mixing then drop the level going into tho ikey so it doesnt distort.
