Postby niceguysteve » Fri Dec 03, 2010 5:38 pm

Hi Guys

Im thinking of buying the akai apc 40 for my dj sets, does anyone use this controller or has anyone got an opinion they would like to share with me regarding this or the use of controllers for dj ing in general?
Cheers!!!! :)

Go for it, I bought the APC20 the day it came out, and I still regret not getting the apc40 ... the knobs, the knobs, would've made my life easier. imo, the apc20/40 are the way to go when djing with Ableton. Just plug it in and its ready to gooooooo.
a cavemen can do it :D

cheers, hope it helps!

Cool thanks for the reply mate

its looks like a great tool from what i've seen on you tube

i think it will let me be a lot more creative with my dj sets

i originally bought ableton for production, now its going to be my dj weapon of choice! :dj:

is there a downside to djing with a controller instead of the tried and tested cdjs

Jup I also love this machine! You really should buy it if your working with ableton live!
Such an easy interface, great knobs, everything is tested before it rolls out of the factury... so you have a really great machine there.

imo you wont get the same control over the music as you would with the cdjs. it a matter of taste, now days I'd only DJ with Ableton live if the club doesn't have CDJs.

anyway If you got ableton, get urself an Akai APC20/40 it's a great investment (studio/dj)

cheers

for djing with ableton the vestax vcm 600 is the best mudaf**ckin controller, but i played with the apc 40 and it's ill its really fun to control ableton with one of them the only thing about djing with one is that you got no dedicated eq knobs or kills but of course with ableton there is always way's around that!

the apc40 is great! a lot of people don't class it as 'dj'ing because everythig is already beatmatched but eveything already being in sync allows for a much more creative set!

this is what we're going to be using for mixtape and such and for remixing tracks live!

possibilitys are endless, and even get an ipad/ipod/iphone involved and map it up for more parameters to be controlled!

I've got a novation launchpad... sometimes I regret not buying the akai for the knobs, but then again I have 4 pair of knobs in my axiom 25, so no big deal...

Still haven't used it live, it's very difficult to get a gig where I live...
