One thing I admire about you is how you play so many different types of house music occasionally even dropping some hip hop or other tracks that arnt necessarily house tracks. I can also say the same thing about other djs such as chuckie who you see playing tech house one time and then you listen to another set by them and they play all mainstream. I love many different types of house... tech house groovey house electro...basically all types but its hard for me to play all those types of music in my set because i feel like they dont all fit together in just one set. Im a perfectionist and all of my mixes always have to sound perfect and im always afraid of taking risks :/ I often get caught in not wanting to play certain tracks because i feel they are to mainstream or don't fit into my sets eventhough i might like them....What are your opinions on this?

When I make some songs...I get stuck on making a melody of some sort and balancing my bass, drums, and melodies. It seems crazy, like there are too many things going on. Making melodies are rreally challenging maybe because I dont know how to play the piano. Can you please give me some tips? I used Logic studio and Ableton live 8( I went all out...I really want to get better)

Are there any books/tutorials/etc you'd recommend for the more technical side of production such as the mixdown and synthesis programming?
I'd like to have a rough idea of the tech behind synthesis and mixing down in general without having to read manuals, and giving up on sounds cause i can't fit them in the mix, etc.
Cheers.

For now, start trying to replay the songs you love. The housetracks you listen to a lot.
You will find out that there's not a lot of elements. Less is better.
When trying to replay them, keep an eye on what notes are being played and
see and hear that they fit because a lot of them are the same note.
If you try and remake tracks for a month or two you will advance a lot in
melodies.
