I just have a personal issue with the latest artwork done for mixmash. It looks a bit clumsy comparred to the earlier ones (need your loving, g.o.d. timebomb). I used to be excited but I don't feel KOA anymore. But again, just my personal opinion!

Haha ok, that's fine by me!

I guess the problem is also there are 2manymixmashreleases. This takes the focus off from the artwork, plus I can imagine mr. KOA isn't as creative as he could be with all those drawings he has to do...

Don't just say something or assume something guys.

KOA is an amazing artist and he didn't just lose it. We needed to simplify the artwork because most of the time
it's used in a very tiny format and square. Like on Beatport, the artwork is so small, it used to just look like
spaghetti with bright colors. So now the designs need to be more chunky to fit the digital market better. That's the reason.

The more releases on Mixmash, the more platform we can offer to new talents. Truth is, again, don't just assume,
we get so much good demos it would be a shame to let the talents wait so long to get a release.
The average waiting time for a release is about 3 to 4 months now. If we lower the frequency of Mixmash releases,
this would go up to a year.

I salute the "The Ones To Look Out For" eps for that reason.

Sorry for my assumptions Luke! But if it did made you respond here, I'm glad for that. (wasn't my intention btw) Thanks for the info's and keep it comin'!

So yeah, such a shame this place isn't working like it used to be information-wise. Of course I know you are way too busy for this being pretty much always on the run, but I do feel like management should have already picked this up at some point. Next to their typical marketing platforms, the forum has always been set to be a proper communication tool for that matter...

New Mixmash EP is coming up.

The Ones To Look Out For Vol. 2

Image

"The Ones To Watch" EP is all about the brand new trend-setting, extremely hot and talented names to watch out for! This volume is a hardcore doze of the smashing progressive sounds of bright electro entries!

Expect nothing but the "Slap" of the heavy-weight electro base from the French mixing virtuoso Sebastien Benett. The EP continues with the Laidback Luke inspired progressive track rich on the impressive baseline and vocoder namely "Meteorite" cooked in the headquarters of the Tunisian next big name Striker. Following up is a very ecstatic big-room "Euphoria" tune from the noted Dutch duo Justin Strikes & Jay Rox who just invented the next must-have anthem.

And, just to put an extra cherry on top, we got another upcoming Dutch duo Mirwais & David Gravell with "Smashed Potatoes". They combine the sound of progressive house with a superb electro chainsaw line seasoning it up with a massive almost demolishing buildup!

So, there's no way to miss the release day of this loud "The Ones To Watch" EP on the 1st of March via Beatport.

Release date: Mar 1, 2012

Sebastien Benett - Slap! (Original Mix)

Striker - Meteorite (Original Mix)

David Gravell & Mirwais - Smashed Potatoes (Original Mix)

Justin Strikes & Jay Rox - Euphoria (Original Mix)

"Euphoria" is a track we almost all know from Luke his older FG Radio sets, nice to see it finally getting in the stores. "Slap!" Will do nicely in this current Progressive House climate, but it's not really my thing. "Smashed Potatoes" is pretty well put together, but resembles far too many tracks to stand out (Sander Van Doorn - Slap My Pitch Up and Angger Dimas & Bassjackers - RIA to name the latest ones.)

But "Meteorite" is the true treasure in my opinion. Unique sound in the drop, and the break isn't half bad either. Really nice find by Mixmash.

Nice artwork btw (really!)

That saddens me, because I like KOA for his details. But good to see that with "Speak Up", he used a thinner "pencil" again. Very fond of it!
