Soundcloud Problems

Postby Gabeskeee » Fri Mar 02, 2012 12:47 pm

I made a mashup and now I am dealing with copyright issues... basically would need Laidback Lukes permission, or whoever owns the rights to the songs, to even up load it. Regardless the problem seems to be going around with a lot of people via searching google. Anyone else have that problem?! uploading and what not?!

Ya they seem to be taking down a lot of peoples tracks that arent official! Ive even seen a few cases of them taking down remixes of tracks that are official! I dont think that its soundcloud thought I think there has to be a complaint made about if before they will remove it otherwise they would have to listen to everything that gets uploaded...

I had the same problem. Calvin Harris has uploaded the vocals from flashback on zippyshare so I made a bootleg for this. When I uploaded to soundcloud it got took off for copyright, I emailed back asking how do I stop it from being removed but I got no reply

Yeah I think other people are putting in the complaints to your remixes/bootlegs and soundcloud is taking them down. I put up two mashups of on my soundcloud of Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown with no problem, but when I put up another Nicki Minaj Mash Up with Dada Lifes Kick out the Epic, it was taken down a day later. I think some other DJ had a similar bootleg that put a complaint and had my Mash Up removed.

There are companies that are paid by artists and record labels to search for copyrighted material and report it so they are probably coming across your work and reporting it as infringing.

Mick have you enabled downloading on the tracks?

Guys!!

Soundcloud is not Zippyshare!! The meaning of soundcloud is to promote your own music. Not mashups using other peoples work and make it downloadable.

Of course they remove these files. I's just piracy if you don't have permission from the artist, it's the same when you will upload someones work on zippyshare.

BUT

I having troubles too even if I upload my own music! They need some kind of approved artist profile to allow you to upload your very own music.

AND

Sometimes djs give their vocals away for free to make your own bootleg. Sometimes these get removed too even with approval from the artist.

+

They sometimes remove dj sets. I think they should allow this. It's promoting other artist and not giving away full mp3's.
Soundcloud says they are a tape which you can reuse for 120minutes. Well.. they used to give away mixtape few decades ago, soundcloud is just the oldskool tape of 2012.

Maybe they should pay the artist instead removing the content.. soundcloud is making enough money to do this. Or allow advertising on free profiles.

--------
THAT said , a little bit off topic though.
In my opinion people should keep mashups for themselfs and not giving it away for free. It's just too easy to use other people's work and credit yourself.. HOWEVER I encourage Bootlegs --> Unoffical remixes, this way you really add some own production and creativity. Stop making mashups and start making own tracks/bootlegs
