Just a Question for you Luke

Postby Dj Rev » Sun Oct 23, 2005 8:04 pm

Hey Luke, first off I would just like to say I am new to this site, I signed up almost right after I watched you spin live at **Sensation White 2005**. I have been pretty busy so I haven?t had much time to check up on your site a lot, although I have been listing to your live sets in your media section and their awesome! I love every single one of them, your style is far different and far more technical than any other DJ that Iv heard. You have been a big inspiration to me, though the music you play and how you mix your music. I hear you doing a lot of cool things during your sets such as scratching in and out of songs and using effects to fade in and out of trax which I find really cool, it only adds to the experience. Dj Tiesto has really been the only dj I really look up to, but for the past little while everyday iv been listing to you and your lets and it amazes me and now I mostly look up to you. YOUR SETS ARE NEVER BORING! You ?FREAK? a lot  in your sets!

anyways man i think your the best ! your rite any dj can mix a record every 5 min but not every 30 seconds. your the only dj who iv seen do that and master it... your programing is also amazing and i even learn alot just listening to you... :D

haha time for my question, sorry i made you read all that

i am currently looking to upgrade my equipment to something better, that gives me more possibilities in where i wanna go and how i wan to mix

im looking at the CDJ800's for turtables and im looking at the DJM500's for a mixer... i wish i coul dget the 1000's but unfortunatly their a little to expensive for me.

i was just wondering on what your thoughts were on my selection and or what you think would be a better buy for me... if anyone has any comments please feel free to respond :) thank you all and thank you Luke :) :) i hope to tlak to u soon on this...

p.s. LAIDBACK LUKE PLEASE COME SPIN A SET IN TORONTO !

It's a better choice to take the djm600 instead of the djm500. Luke also uses the djm600. The faderquality of the djm500 is not so good.

Hey DJ Rev,
Thanks a lot for the good words! Really means a lot to me that people also hear and respect the technical side of DJing. Awesome that I can be an influence to you.

As for your gear question: Looks good, most of the people that ask about CD players I advice the CDJ 800, if they can't afford the CDJ 1000. It's good to start off with and since the CDJ 1000 is the club standard you could easily adapt if you would have a club gig.

I've been using the DJM 600 mixer for years now, so the 2004 yearmix is also done with that. Viccus is our tech-specialist on this forum, so it's good to listen to his advice.

Good stuff, if you would have a mix for us in the future, don't hesitate to post it on this forum also. We could help you with some advice, and most forum people here enjoy hearing them...

thanks Luke and Viccus for the replys :) i appreciate the knowledgable advice that you've given me :) i think im probably going to get the djm600's, i think it might be a little over my budget but i think i can manage...

another thing i would like to ask is what are the major differences between the cdj800's VS. the cdj1000's

the only differences that i know of are that these 1000's have is that is has hot ques, a MMC Card, CD Text... is there any other differences between the two that i should be aware of... such as pitchbending and scratching ect...

thanks for your help Luke and Viccus ! :) i appreciate it

take care :) ciao ciao

When you scroll down on this page you'll find a comparison sheet between the cdj1000mkII and the cdj800.

The style is simply Laidback House... its laidback an chill... but uplifting and fun too... just Luke's style... =0)

Anyways, is there any way to get copies of your sstuff internationally Luke? I live in the US as spin the "much hated" CD way and wondered if you could sign up for CD promos internationally...

Yeah, the Jahmirrahman 2 is sold out guys. We're not gonna press more, sorry about that. Also @darthseph, there's a special room on SLSK where my things get shared, especially for the CD DJs amongst us. You can get the tracks released on vinyl there also. Contact Tony Flexx for this please.
